Beacon Hill is the most exclusive neighborhood in Boston, home to John Kerry and all the other Boston Brahmin Limousine liberals. Very nice area of course.
The Back Bay is the chillest part of the city with Newbury Street and many cool bars and nice restaurants. The town houses in the Back Bay along Commonwealth Ave and elsewhere go for top dollar but not quite as stratospherically high as the rents/purchase prices in Beacon Hill.
Beacon Hill is probably about 1/5 the size of the Back Bay.
